Our Leadership

The Optometric Physicians of Washington (OPW) leadership devote many hours, outside of the normal demands of work and personal lives, to help the profession of optometry advance in Washington State. This group of ODs, with support from organizational structure teams and society leaders, helps the organization navigate through the political and fiscal landscape facing today's optometrists.

About Our Leadership

PRESIDENT: Daniel Schrempp, OD

Dr. Daniel Schrempp was born in Lewiston, ID, and grew up south of Spokane in Rockford, WA. He attended Eastern Washington University and Pacific University College of Optometry, graduating in 2011. Dr. Schrempp completed his hospital-based residency at the PHS Indian Health Hospital in Zuni, NM. He started practicing medical optometry in 2012 at Hollingshead Eye and Surgery Center in Boise, ID. In 2014, he transitioned to Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute, first serving in Idaho and now Washington. During his time in Idaho, he was deeply involved in organized optometry, serving as both President and Idaho’s Director of the Great Western Council of Optometry (GWCO) Board. Dr. Schrempp was the recipient of Idaho’s ‘Young Optometrist of the Year’ award in 2019 and ‘Presidents Award’ in 2022.

Personable, caring, and straightforward, Dr. Daniel Schrempp has a friendly, upbeat personality and a practical approach to things. He enjoys long-distance running, reading, and time with his family. Daniel and his wife, Aubre, a special education teacher, live in Spokane, Washington. They have four daughters and one son — Abigail, Mira Bell, Rosemary, Sarah, and Emrys.

PRESIDENT-ELECT: Michael Wagner, OD

Dr. Michael Wagner is a Washington State native. He attended Washington State University, where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. After graduation, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2022. Dr Wagner’s rotation training included cataract co-management, anterior segment disease, glaucoma, and refractive surgery co-management. An active member in both the American Optometric Association and Optometric Physicians of Washington, Dr. Wagner is passionate about practicing full-scope optometry and providing top-level care to his patients.

His passions include myopia management, anterior segment disease management, contact lenses, and dry eye. When not in the clinic, Dr. Wagner enjoys swimming, cooking, playing chess, and walking his dogs with his wife, Cristina.

VICE PRESIDENT: Brett Igbinoba, OD

Positive, compassionate and reassuring, Dr. Brett Igbinoba enjoys listening, finding solutions, and letting people know that no concern is too big or too small to talk about and treat.

Born in Spokane, Washington, Dr. Igbinoba grew up nearby in Cheney. He enjoys exercising, snowboarding, camping and traveling. He and his wife, Jen, a strength and conditioning coach, live in Bellingham, Washington. They have a daughter and a son—Maya and Quincy.

SECRETARY: Shannon Chan, OD

Dr. Shannon Chan grew up in Alaska but has spent the past decade in the Pacific Northwest, a region she loves and plans to stay! She attended the University of Washington and Pacific University for her respective degrees. Dr. Chan held internships at Veteran's Affairs American Lake Medical Center (Tacoma, WA), Evergreen Eye Center (Greater Seattle Area), and Hope Clinic (Bellevue, WA) to complete an immersive and comprehensive medical training in treating patients with Ocular Disease and TBI (traumatic brain injury). She currently practices in Seattle, WA.

Dr. Chan is passionate about advocating for the optometric profession. During her time at Pacific University College of Optometry (PUCO), she served as the 2024 Class President and PUCO Senator. In these leadership roles, she advocated for her peers, faculty, staff, and multiple external optometry companies/representatives.

Dr. Chan has been a recipient of the Dr. Brian Lee Hill, OD Award, a unique award that is given to one graduating doctor, and chosen by their peers for demonstrating "great friendship and leadership" throughout their entire time in doctorate school. Dr. Chan has also received the PECAA Award for Excellence in Future Private Practice for her passion and dedication to the optometric profession.

Dr. Chan strives to continue advocating for optometry by being heavily involved in OPW, serving as Secretary of the association, and supporting OPW Leadership. In her free time, Dr. Chan enjoys weightlifting/being active, playing video games, and exploring new foods/attractions with her incredibly supportive family and partner.

IMMEDIATE PAST-PRESIDENT: Andrea Morton, OD, MEd/VFL, FOVDR

Dr. Andrea Morton was born and raised in Camas, WA where she was fascinated by the field of optometry from an early age. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of Washington. Postgraduate, she received her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University’s College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR, graduating with honors, and concurrently earned her Master of Education with the subspecialty of Visual Function in Learning. In addition to her studies, she was involved with OPW as a Student Liaison. Dr. Morton has also received her fellowship through the Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation Association.

Dr. Morton received the OPW Student of the Year award in 2015 and later that year, began her role as President of the Southwest Optometric Society through 2021. She received the Young Doctor of Optometry of the Year award for her dedication and leadership. In 2022, she joined the OPW Board of Trustees, where she served on the Membership Committee of the Invest Division. The following year, she was appointed Vice President of the Association and served as OPW President in 2025. She currently serves as Immediate Past President and Co-President of the Southwest Optometric Society, while continuing in her role as the Washington InfantSEE State Advocate for the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Morton specializes in pediatric eye care, vision therapy, neuro-rehabilitation, and sports vision training. She strives to help her patients and the community understand that vision means much more than simply seeing 20/20. She loves the challenge of helping children in their development and treating underlying vision problems to help students read and learn -- in turn, giving them more opportunities and choices in life. When not in the office, Dr. Morton can be found enjoying the great outdoors as she cycles, runs, and hikes all over the NW. She also frequents live music events and spends time at the coast.
