SightLine Ophthalmology, FT or PT OD - Gig Harbor, WA

We’re Hiring an Optometrist at SightLine Ophthalmology!

SightLine Ophthalmology is excited to add an Optometrist to our growing private practice in Gig Harbor, Washington. This is a unique opportunity to practice in a newly created SightLine Ophthalmology space located within Suburban Opticians which is in downtown University Place, a trusted and long-standing optical business that has been serving the community since 1971.

This role offers the best of both worlds: the support and clinical collaboration of SightLine Ophthalmology, along with the opportunity to serve an established patient base connected to one of the most recognized optical businesses in the South Puget Sound

The Optometrist joining our team will be stepping into a location where patients have historically received optometric care from independent providers, creating an immediate opportunity to build on existing patient relationships.

About the Opportunity
This is not a cold-start position. The new Optometrist will be practicing within a trusted optical setting with a built-in patient base and strong community recognition. Suburban Opticians has been part of the regional eye care community for over 50 years, and SightLine Ophthalmology is excited to expand our modern and experience-oriented eye care model their patients.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Optometrist who values relationship-based care, enjoys working collaboratively with both licensed opticians and ophthalmologists, and is excited by the opportunity to grow a practice within a respected and already established eye care environment.

About SightLine Ophthalmology
SightLine Ophthalmology is a physician-owned ophthalmology practice in Gig Harbor, led by Preston Sullivan, MD. Our practice is built around thoughtful, thorough, and personalized eye care. We are a small, dynamic private practice that values clinical excellence, compassion, innovation, and an exceptional patient experience.

Our team takes pride in providing care that feels personal, not rushed or factory-like. We are looking for an Optometrist who shares that same commitment to patients, teamwork, and high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Performing comprehensive medical eye exams
  • Performing routine eye exams
  • Providing glasses and contact lens prescriptions
  • Diagnosing and managing routine ocular conditions
  • Identifying patients who may need medical or surgical ophthalmology care
  • Collaborating with Dr. Sullivan and the SightLine clinical team on patient care when appropriate
  • Educating patients on their eye health, vision options, and treatment plans
  • Maintaining accurate and timely exam documentation and coding using NexTech Intellechart Pro
  • Building strong relationships with the staff at Suburban Opticians, new and existing patients in a trusted community setting
  • Supporting a positive, professional, and patient-centered environment

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for an Optometrist who is clinically strong, personable, dependable, and excited about helping grow a new SightLine Ophthalmology presence within an established optical business.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited program
  • Active Washington State Optometry license, or ability to obtain one
  • Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with patients and team members
  • A warm, professional, and approachable patient care style
  • Interest in building long-term patient relationships
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively
  • A desire to be part of a growing private practice opportunity

Why This Role Is Different
This position offers a rare opportunity to step into a new practice space with a strong foundation already in place. Rather than building patient volume from scratch, the Optometrist will have access to a built-in patient base connected to a highly trusted optical business with deep roots in the community.

For the right provider, this is an opportunity to create something meaningful: a patient-centered optometry presence backed by SightLine Ophthalmology’s clinical reputation and supported by Suburban Opticians’ long-standing community trust and loyal clientele.

Schedule
Full-time or part-time options may be considered for the right candidate.

Compensation
Competitive compensation will based on a productivity model with potential for a daily base rate. Dependent on experience.

Benefits
Benefits may include paid time off, paid holidays, health benefits and professional development support depending on schedule and employment status.

How to Apply
If you are an Optometrist looking for a unique opportunity to practice in an established, trusted eye care setting while helping grow a new SightLine Ophthalmology space, we would love to hear from you.
