About the Speakers
Christina Nye, MDDr. Christina Nye is a board‑certified ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. A Montana native, she earned honors degrees from Carroll College and The Ohio State University, where she also completed her residency and fellowship training. She has practiced in Spokane since 1999 and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. |
![]() Hari Bodhireddy, MDDr. Hari Bodhireddy joined the Spokane Eye Clinic in September 2015. He completed a glaucoma and cataract/anterior segment fellowship at the Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City after serving as chief resident in ophthalmology at Texas Tech University, where he also received his medical degree and graduated summa cum laude. Dr. Bodhireddy specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and cataracts. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, and Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Bodhireddy is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Bodhireddy enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and a dog. He has fun playing the guitar, attending concerts, and taking advantage of the many trails and outdoor activities the Inland Northwest offers. He and his family have enjoyed calling Spokane home.

![]() Vin Dang, OD, FAAODr. Vin T. Dang is an optometrist practicing in Bakersfield, CA, with a unique clinical focus on ocular surface disease and dry eye. Born and raised in Paris, France, Dr. Dang earned his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry. In 2016, he received his Fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry. As Director of Dry Eye Center at Empire Eye and Laser Center, Dr. Dang is a specialist in ocular surface diseases, advanced refractive eye surgery care, and glaucoma. Dr. Dang has contributed to optometric journals and lectures on ocular surface disease treatment and management. He serves on the advisory boards assisting in the research and development of dry eye therapies and crafting disease management protocols. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the past president of the Kern County Optometric Society. He volunteers nationally and internationally with OneSight and Vision to Learn.

![]() Melissa Barnhart, ODDr. Melissa Barnhart is the proud owner of Vision Institute Northwest, a three-location private practice in the Spokane area. She also recently started Spokane Specialty Vision; a specialty contact lens clinic designed for specialty contact lens referrals. A graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry, she focuses on fitting specialty lenses for keratoconus and post-surgical corneas. Dr. Barnhart is board certified by the American Board of Optometry and has been an active member of OPW for many years. Dr. Barnhart has two children in middle school and enjoys hiking and water sports in the Pacific Northwest.

Casey Claypool, ODDr. Casey Claypool graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University in chemistry and with honors from Pacific University College of Optometry. He received a competitive HPSP scholarship from the Air Force and served for three years at Malmstrom AFB. He specializes in dry eye disease management and optimizing integrated care between optometry and ophthalmology. Dr. Claypool has lectured around the nation on topics covering complex eye diseases and is an active member of the AOA and OPW. A native of Spokane, Dr. Claypool is grateful to call the Inland Northwest home along with his wife and five wonderful children.

![]() Kevin Michels, MDDr. Kevin Michels was born in Newport News, Virginia, but grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and eventually made Spokane, Washington his home. He completed ophthalmology residency in Portland, Oregon and an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery accredited fellowship in Columbus, Ohio. After his fellowship, Dr. Michels started his practice of Northwest Eyelid and Orbital Specialists in Spokane, WA, in 2010, which currently has two locations: The Tri-Cities and Spokane. Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, especially skiing and fly fishing.

![]() Talmage Broadbent, MD, PhDDr. Talmage Broadbent is a fellowship-trained oculoplastic and orbital surgeon and co-owner of Northwest Eyelid and Orbital Specialists in Spokane, WA. He earned his MD/PhD at the University of Utah, completed ophthalmology residency at Vanderbilt University, and finished his oculoplastic fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and University of Minnesota. Dr Broadbent serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in oculoplastic and orbital surgery. His practice focuses on eyelid, orbital, and lacrimal surgery, including cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. |
![]() Loren Seery, MDDr. Loren Seery is a Cataract and Cornea Specialist, trained at Mayo Clinic. He grew up as a missionary kid in New Guinea, where his dad was a mission pilot. This shaped and inspired him to serve abroad. After completing his Cornea Fellowship at Washington University, he worked in Guam for four years before joining PCLI in 2015. Since, he has been privileged to serve patients on short-term trips in Papua New Guinea, Guatemala, Cambodia, Tanzania, and Pohnpei. He enjoys serving patients in the Pacific Northwest, striving to offer top-notch care and cutting-edge procedures, with compassion.

![]() Gary Fillmore, MDDr. Gary Fillmore completed his ophthalmology residency as a U.S. Army officer at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and had his first refractive surgery training in the military's Warfighter Refractive Eye Surgery Program (WRESP). Since purchasing Eye Consultants in 2008, he has developed a highly respected cataract and refractive surgery practice. He also performs laser and lens-based refractive surgery in the wider Pacific Northwest through his association with K2 Vision and King LASIK. His areas of surgical interest include LASIK, cataract surgery, Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), and Implantable Collamer Lenses (ICL). |
Cancellation Policy
Any cancellation requests must be emailed directly to OPW@eyes.org no later than Friday, August 28, to receive a full refund minus a $25 administration fee. No refund for cancellations will be granted after this date.
